LAboratory for Marine Physics (LAMP) is a subdivision of the\u00a0Atlantic Branch<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Shirshov Institute of Oceanology<\/a>, one of the largest research institutions of the\u00a0Russian Academy of Sciences<\/a>.<\/p>\nLocated by the Baltic Sea, the Laboratory enjoys the opportunity of year-round investigations of hydrophysical processes in the sea, as well as contamination of its waters, bottom and beach sediments by plastic litter and microplastics particles.<\/p>\n
The key topics under investigation are the microplastic contamination of the marine environment and the role of the Cold Intermediate Layer in general overturning circulation of the Baltic Sea.
