RFBR project No. 19-35-50028 “Research on the processes of sedimentation and particle transport of marine microplastics based on laboratory modeling using PIV methods” [finished]

Annotation

The project aims to develop a new technique for studying the dynamics of microplastics in the near-bottom boundary layer, based on the use of modern methods of optical anemometry using particle images (Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV)). Measurements with high spatial and temporal resolution of the flow velocity fields in the bottom layer will require adaptation of the hardware and software, which will allow us to identify the mechanisms of stirring and the characteristic conditions under which various types of microplastic particles begin to move.
